So how much does it cost to buy a little plane like that, and how much does fuel cost to keep it in the air for an hour?

Prices vary from 15-50K (for the C150 models) depending on the production year, number of hours on the engine/airframe, et cetera. The turds we fly in the club were probably purchased for 15-20K. We rent them wet, so fuel is no factor. I think we're at $5 per gal, at cruise we burn approx 5 gph... so roughly $25 an hour.
